Naples Historical Society Tour of Palm Cottage and Gardens Near Downtown Naples Florida
The Naples Historical Society is a wonderful place to visit while you are enjoying beautiful downtown Naples.
There are docent-led tours of this quaint Palm Cottage which was built in 1895 by Walter Haldeman, publisher of the Louisville Courier-Journal.
It is now a museum and is listed in the National Register for Historic Places. If you love old houses and the history that they tell then don't miss this wonderful spot!
Most people recognize the most famous historic landmark of Naples which is the Naples Fishing Pier.
The pier was built in 1887 by a group of men from Kentucky who bought virtually the entire village called Naples.
Naples got its name from the first settlers in the 1870's and '80's describing its water and climate being similar to the beautiful bay in Naples, Italy.
The pier was built to provide large ships to dock easily bringing products and northern visitors during the winter months up north.
With both the Pier and the Palm Cottage being conveniently located in the heart of Olde Naples it's an ideal way to spend a relaxing day during your Naples Florida vacation. Have lunch at one of the many nice restaurants and then stroll down to 137 12th Avenue South to visit the museum and its exquisite gardens. After seeing the home head down 1 block west to walk the Naples Fishing Pier.
The Palm Cottage tour varies in time by your questions and interest. They usually last between 20-60 minutes - it's really up to you!
