EDISON FORD WINTER ESTATES

In the beautifully preserved museum you will see an array of inventions, artifacts and special exhibits of both men. The museum has guided, as self-guided, and Audio Wand tours available in both English and German. You may also purchase an Estates Guidebook for $3. As you go through the museum, you will be delighted with the different areas. The “Main Gallery” houses the displays of Edison’s inventions such as the telegraph and x-ray machine. You will see the Model T that Henry Ford gave to his friend Edison as a gift. “Edison After Forty” exhibits descriptions as the title states on loan from the Smithsonian Institution.

Other exhibits include: “Movies, Music and Dance of Edison & Ford” a collection of entertainment inventions; “Into the Wild: Edison, Ford & Friends” camping expeditions throughout the nation; “Family, Friends, and Fun” mostly historical photographs from their personal archives. You will also view “The Wizard Invents” exhibit which includes the stock ticker and other inventions; “The Child Wizard” is young Edison as visualized by Michael Dooling, author of Young Thomas Edison; “Hall of Inventions”; Edison Electric Light & Power” which leads into “Edison’s Green Energy Solar Power” including a Solar Education Station and Learning Center. And lastly, view the “Edison Botanic Research Corporation” exhibit which includes original artifacts and information as well as examples of Edison’s research.
The entire Estates as well as the museum is open daily from 9 am to 5:30 pm. There are admission prices for separate fares so it may be wise to decide in advance what tour you would like.

♦ The total Estates admission is $20 for adults, $11 for children 6 – 12 and children five and under are free
♦ Admission to the museum and the laboratory only is $12 for adults, children 6 – 12 are $5 and children five and under are free.
